In order to get different results, you need to be willing to DO different things!
Do you put yourself in new environments to learn and grow, or do you tend to do the same things over and over again?
The journey to personal growth and development can be scary and can stretch you out of your comfort zone, and it is a journey that many never venture to take. However, once you begin to transform your thinking, it is totally worth the investment in YOU.
I am going to help you see that in order to get different results, you need to be willing to do different things.
I will take you on a journey and share some of my experience from a recent trip to Las Vegas.
I will delve into the concept of generating a mentality of creating and achieving MORE in your life.
Finally, will help you with some suggestions on new endeavours that you could attempt in order to get different results
The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over again and somehow expecting to get different results. In order to see a shift in your health, your energy, your bank account or any aspect of your life, you need to be willing to do something different and to take risks in order to FLY.
Think about your life right now. Who do you spend all of your time with? Chances are most of your friends make about the same amount of money as you do, they have a similar educational background, they probably have about the same number of kids as you do and you have similar interests.
You probably shop in the same places, you buy the same foods in the grocery store each week when you shop, you wear the same clothes in your closet and have a bunch you don’t touch that are dusty and have been shoved to the back. You also park your car in the same spot when you go to work, you eat the same food in your packed lunch and you talk to the same people while you are at work.
Let’s face it, this doesn’t sound very glamorous and when you hear it all laid out in this manner, it actually sounds pretty boring and mundane.
The world is not served by you playing small!
In order to get different results, you need to be willing to take risks and do different things!
You need to get out and meet new people.
You need to put yourself in environments that will allow you to learn, grow and stretch yourself.
You need to try new foods, and eat at new restaurants.
You may even need to make new friends.
I just got back from a week in Las Vegas where I spent time in a house with 20 people I really even didn’t know. I shared a room with three other girls and two of them I had just met for the first time when I arrived at the house. We stayed in this beautiful house off the strip with a pool, a hot tub and lots of space for all of us to stay and work together and share ideas as we learned from the event.
I attended a conference where some of the top thought leaders and speakers in the motivational and leadership world spoke. I listened and learned from Tony Robbins, Brenden Buchard (who has been named the top high performance coach in the world by Oprah Winfrey), the famous singer Pitfbull and a master trainer Eric Worre. There were also extremely successful people in their respective businesses sharing their tips, secrets and ideas on how to impact people’s lives in a positive way.
I put myself in an environment that allowed for me to grow and to learn new ways of thinking and to share that experience with a group of like minded people on a mission to help empower others to do the same. It took planning and preparation to be away from my kids who are busy with all kinds of activities, my husband who is running his own business and has a lot on the go, and covering my fitness classes and things that I am dedicated to in order to be able to make it happen. it was convenient, but it was necessary in order to grow and develop as a person and a leader and to become a better mom, wife and friend.
Would you have gotten on a plane, flown to a different country, stayed with perfect strangers and worked together brainstorming new ideas and perspectives in how to look at things all in the name of growing and personally developing in your heart and mind?
Would you have taken the time to arrange child care, shuttling kids to hockey and activities and all that you do in your life in order to go to a conference on personal growth and development with the money coming out of your own pocket?
For many people, the whole idea of personal growth and development is a foreign concept and it is not something they would ever think to pursue. I am sure many people looked at me and thought why would she go to something like that, or here she goes again, off to another one of those conferences……I will admit that it was to me as well not too many years ago.
When I was still teaching, personal development meant a PD day that would be spent learning about teaching ideology or methods of instruction, but it often didn’t really allow for me to grow and develop as an individual to become a better citizen, a better wife, a better mom or friend.
I have been fortunate enough over the last several years to have now learned from Tony Robbins twice, to be mentored by leaders in business who are making millions of dollars a year, to be exposed to new people who are just like myself who are on a journey of self discovery and transformation in their mindset and overall perspective on life – all because I was willing to try something different. I was willing to risk putting myself in the company of these people and to become a student rather than the teacher and to learn from those who have gone before me who have seen success.
I have had other experiences like this before as well from travelling around the world for a year by myself, to meeting my mentor online and travelling to another country to meet him after only one week to jumping out of a perfectly good airplane – all stories I can share more about with you at another time – but for now – perhaps there is something inside of me that is looking for MORE – and I want to spend some time with you discussing this concept.
There was a time when one of my colleagues at work asked me about just that. He told me that There were “rumours” about me and outside work when I was teaching – he said there had been some lunchtime conversations about me and outside work. Some people had mentioned or said, “Is this place not enough for her, why does she need more?”
The more that I was seeking at that time was finding time for ME to be in shape and to work out before I taught classes at 6 am before I started work and then after school on the only night I didn’t coach so I could squeeze it in to take care of my health and get back into share as I had put myself on the back burner for so long.
Have you experienced the pressures, the thoughts or the judgement of others in how you live your life and the choices you are making?
Have you let others hold you back from achieving MORE, from striving for MORE, all because you are concerned about what they might think??
The world is not served by you playing small and living a life of mediocrity!
You deserve MORE in your life – you deserve to play big, to play full out, to soar to new heights and to be BIG, BOLD AND BRAVE!
I finally came to a place where I refused to let the outside world determine m fate and to hold me back from a achieving MORE and going after what was in my heart to accomplish!
I took steps to travel, to put myself in those places, with the people who were going to lift me up, challenge me and make me face the tough decisions and then give me the tools to be resilient and to face the obstacles head on to breakthrough and impact people’s lives in a positive manner.
Where in your life are you playing small? Where in your life are you repeating patterns and habits that just aren’t serving you and that are keeping you stuck in a rut??
You can break that mould, you can do the things I am doing, you can learn from the people I am learning from in a similar manner, all you need is the courage to say YES to YOU!
I look back at that conversation I had about me wanting MORE and I actually smile – someone saying that a job was simply not enough for me lights my fire. I am not defined by a job or my career, I am fuelled by a bigger mission and it is a matter of taking the steps to learn, to fall down, to fail, to make mistakes and to keep going and you can be too!
Work in your life to develop a growth mindset rather than a fixed mindset – be willing to learn, be open to new ways of thinking and doing things and be willing to say YES when new opportunities and experiences arise.
The world is not served by you playing small.
Are you playing to win?
How can you do life better?
What has to change?
I am here to help you take the steps to make those changes happen and to play big in your life.
I want to see you smile, to laugh out loud, to love with all of your heart and to do the things that light you up inside. Together we can lift each other up and when you are surrounded by a tribe of support – you literally can FLY!
In order to get different results, you need to be willing to DO different things!
